Entry into Perthshire Open Studios is subject to the following regulations.
Membership of Perthshire Open Studios and participation in the POS events and exhibitions is subject to the following terms and conditions. Please take time to read them in full before accepting them by ticking the box when applying. Note: ‘Perthshire Open Studios’, ‘the Company’ and ‘POS’ refer to Perthshire Open Studios CIC.
Membership
- Application for membership of Perthshire Open Studios Community Interest Company (POS), as defined by the Articles of Association must be made on the application form on the POS website during Registration period each year and the monies paid in full at the time of registration.
- Membership of POS includes a liability limited to £1 in the event of the Company being wound up, including for one year after ceasing to be a member, as set out in the Articles of Association.
- New members must reside within the PKC council area or be coming to this area to display. Arrangements are being made to facilitiate longstanding members who either live or display outside this area. This is likely to include listings outwith PKC being shown on the border to avoid distorting any maps. Clarity will be given on any impacted member listing.
- Evidence of membership will be available in the members area of the website.
- Membership will last until the following year’s registration opens or 1 April.
- The annual subscription for Individual membership in 2024 will be £50 per registered artist. For collectives: each artist exhibiting in a registered venue must be registered individually as a member.
- Members who wish to participate in the Open Studios Festival, the Festival Showcase, the Creative Trail or the Summer Show are required to pay additional registration or hanging fees.
- Perthshire Open Studios reserves the right to decline any membership application deemed unsuitable.
- So long as members pay the annual subscription, they will remain members of the company and will enjoy the benefits of membership. If a member fails to pay the annual subscription in any one year, they will cease to be a member. Should they wish to rejoin in the future they may do so, by paying the annual subscription, any outstanding fees and making a new application.
- All paid up members of the company shall have a vote at any meeting of the members of the company. All members will have a right to receive a copy of the minutes of the general meetings of the company (not the directors’ meetings) and to attend meetings of the members of the company.
- Should the directors decide a vote can be taken by balloting all members.
- POS will base the production of the website and any advertising material on the information contained in the online listing form. POS reserves the right to exclude, edit or decline any content deemed to be inappropriate or offensive. It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure all details are correct in the online application form at the time of submission and complete by the posted closing date. POS accepts no liability, direct or consequential, for any errors or omissions in its advertising and promotional material.
- As a CIC all monies remaining after the years activities will be rolled over to the following year.
Events and Exhibitions
- Once a member has paid to participate in an event or exhibition they must ensure they complete the registration / listing information for the required closing date.
- The member should ensure they are able to deliver and collect their artwork on the delivery day or make arrangements for a fellow artist to do so on their behalf.
- Perthshire Open Studios reserves the right to refuse artwork not registered properly or meeting the required conditions or not suitable for the exhibition.
- The individual accepting these terms acknowledges they are responsible for arranging Public Liability Insurance for their studio/venue if opening it to the public for the Open Studios Festival. On the same basis members of the Creative Trail must ensure their premises and business meet all required insurance and health and safety provisions set by government and local councils.
- POS accepts no liability for damage to or loss of work, equipment or other property to or in the care of members or the visiting public or for injuries sustained by members, the visiting public or by any other person at the venue, whether exhibiting at their own venue or that of others. Members must satisfy themselves that adequate insurance is in place. Members opening their studio/venue must ensure their studio/venue is safe.
- Should any activity be cancelled by POS it is up to the Directors to decide if any refund to members is possible and how much.
- Should a member wish to withdraw from an event it is up to the directors to decide whether a refund can be made and to what extent.
- Submitting artwork for exhibitions, artists must ensure;
- Wall art must have both d-rings and hanging string suitable for either a hanging system for the exhibition and a picture hook for the customer who purchases the wall art.
- All floor or shelf items must be stable on a flat surface.
- Artists participating in exhibitions must ensure they deliver and collect their work at the correct date and time.
- Artists are expected to contribute to events and exhibtions by distributing brochures, covering shifts on salesdesks and promoting on their own social media. POS is a community of member volunteers and we hope all members contribute what they can.
- Images to be submitted for promotional purposes should be the required resolution and size. Images should also;
- Feature any artwork with space around it.
- Dressings in the image should be appropriate and not detract from the artwork.
- Not include watermarks or copyright.
- Not include logo’s, the exception being images for the Creative Trail.
- Wall art should be photographed before being framed and no frame should be shown only the artwork.
