The Hunter Press is the print studio of Letterpress Printer and Cyanotype Artist Lyndsey Davidson, based in Highland Perthshire just north of Dunkeld. Working across Letterpress, Cyanotype and Relief printing, her practice is rooted in a close relationship with the surrounding landscape, exploring themes of decay, regeneration and growth. Fungi often appear in her work as symbols of resilience and interconnectedness, reflecting an ongoing engagement with the forest floor and the canopy above.
Lyndsey studied Contemporary Art Practice in Edinburgh and holds a BDes in Design and Digital Art. Her early work combined digital processes with immersive, nature-based environments; an interdisciplinary approach that continues to inform her material-led printmaking today. Alongside her individual practice, she has run The Hunter Press Letterpress Studio for over fourteen years, developing a technical understanding of traditional print processes and a commitment to thoughtful, place-responsive making.
Within the print studio, Lyndsey works on vintage presses to produce bespoke Letterpress and Foil printed stationery and ephemera, blending traditional machinery with contemporary techniques such as photopolymer plates. She regularly collaborates with small businesses and event clients, while also creating her own range of prints and stationery, stocked by retailers across Scotland. She is currently exploring botanical toning and natural dye baths as part of an evolving, site-responsive practice.
Visitors to the studio can browse and purchase a selection of prints and paper goods, see the printing press in action, and gain an insight into the processes behind the work. Lyndsey also undertakes commissions and runs an art framing service alongside her print studio, offering a considered, craft-led approach from concept through to finished piece.
