Tricia Brown is a Painter and Photographer. She produces silk scarves, greeting cards and various other miscellaneous items including calendars using her photographs.
Her studio is situated in a small cottage where she offers tea/coffee and plenty of chat.
Tricia Brown was born in Tanganyika, East Africa and now lives in Meigle. She gets much of her inspiration from Strathmore and the nearby glens of Perthshire and Angus and the Islands of Scotland. She studied to “O” level Art at school and has since done several Art/Photographic subjects with London Art College long distance. Other than that she has never had any formal art training.
Tricia is basically a watercolour painter but also uses pastels, acrylics and pen and ink as well as silk painting.
She has had paintings hung in the Royal Scottish Academy, the McManus Gallery at the “Dundee 800” Anniversary Exhibition where she won a purchase prize. Also submitted a painting to Society of Amateur Artists Exhibition in Stirling and won a highly commended certificate from the SAA and The Artist and Illustrator Magazine for the same painting. Among other exhibitions she was invited to produce 30 floral/botanical paintings for the Hardy Plant Society’s Autumn Weekend in Dundee.
She was commissioned to do the line drawings for the “Cultivation of Rhododendrons” by Peter Cox, World renowned expert on Rhododendrons.
Tricia taught art at Blairgowrie Adult Education Association for 8 years but now runs classes at home.
As well as painting Tricia is a keen photographer and prints a Calendar each year of Strathmore and the Glens, makes silk scarves, greetings cards, cushions, coasters and other miscellaneous items.
She runs her Open Studios from a small cottage in her garden and is more than glad to see visitors even if only for a cup of tea or coffee and a blether.
