As a full-time potter, I produce contemporary earthenware ceramics from my Creative Exchange studio in Perth. My work mostly consists of individually wheel-thrown vessels decorated in a highly unique and striking style, with particular attention paid to colour relationships and variations on certain motifs. I’m inspired not only by the minutiae of nature I’m surrounded by in Perthshire these days, but the homewares which fed my soul and sparked fascination as a child living in 1970s suburbia, surrounded by contemporary and post-war décor and domestic objects. All this informs my design aesthetic to this day. My aim is to create lasting, high-quality, but playful pieces which have meaning and inspire some similar fascination and joy.
