My fascination with jewellery making has branched out into lost wax casting, vitreous enamelling, lapidary and devising new settings for gemstones. The dolphin pendant is from my Mother and Baby range with “edge setting” which holds the amazonite cabochon tightly and securely, showing the front and back of the stone equally. You will see a selection of my silver and 18ct gold jewellery. Colourful, various and themed, featuring an array of plants, animals, fossils and castles, together with gorgeous gemstones. Adam Stone has kindly invited me to join him for Perthshire Open Studios at his studio of wonderful bespoke furniture. The location is Greenburns Farm, Kettins, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, PH13 9HA

This year I am joining forces for the POS Festival between 6th and 11th September 2023, with Adam Stone Furniture, at Greenburns Farm, Kettins, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, PH13 9HA (between Kettins and Coupar Angus). The venue is the workshop of Adam Stone which is a renovated farm building in the beautiful countryside south of Coupar Angus. The farm yard has lots of parking and there is seating and toilets available for your convenience. Together Adam and I intend to provide you with a stunning experience of fantastic wildlife paintings alongside the most beautiful bespoke handcrafted furniture using native Scottish timbers and traditional techniques. I will also be exhibiting at : The POS Festival Showcase between 2nd and 11th September 2023, at The Barn Gallery, The Bield, Blackruthven, Perth, PH1 1PY (10 – 17:00); and The POS Summer Show between 1st and 16th July 2023, at Birnam Arts, Birnam, Station Rd, Birnam, Dunkeld, PH8 0DS (10 – 17:00). I am an Edinburgh born self taught artist specializing in wildlife. I have worked professionally in conservation as a deputy head keeper at Edinburgh Zoo for 10 years with the big cats, bears and birds. I find this experience helps with my painting as it gives me an emotional connection to the story I’m trying to tell. The natural world & the wildlife that inhabit it & the state of this world is the drive that carries me forward through each painting. In my art I try to imagine the story behind the scene to create an emotion & give a connection for the viewer. I always work in acrylics on canvas as I find them particularly responsive to the way that I work. I use them almost like watercolours, building up layer upon layer to gain the right tone & at times gaining a translucent effect.

Adam Stone is a custom furniture maker and woodworking teacher whose love of woodworking blossomed at his grandfather’s knee. Born and raised in Perthshire, an early passion for woodturning grew into a desire to create beautiful and useful objects. Adam attended the Chippendale International School of Furniture in Gifford, studying woodworking, speciality joinery, and furniture making. He then taught at the furniture school for four years before returning home to Perthshire to open Adam Stone Furniture near Kettins, where he designs and makes bespoke hardwood furniture on a commission basis and teaches woodworking courses. During Perthshire Open Studios, he will be welcoming two other artists to exhibit in his workshop. David MacKenzie will be showing his fine art paintings and Ricky Pitcher will bring his beautiful jewellery. We are excited to welcome our neighbours to come to see our workshop and furniture as well as the work of our fellow artists.
