Two sisters living in Aberfeldy, we’ve created this stunning wee gem of a gallery and typically one of us is behind the counter. We have a gorgeous range of indoor plants alongside individually made works of art from across Scotland.

At any time of year this stunning walk, through woodlands and waterfalls, has inspired many artists and poets, including the Scottish poet Robert Burns (whose statue sits at the end of the trail). The Upper Birks is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its importance for the diversity of plants and animals. A moderately challenging circular walking trail, it takes 1–2 hours to complete. Suitable footwear advised. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a lead.

Based on our working hill farm, with stunning views over Highland Perthshire we offer relaxed dining and an award-winning deli packed full of Scottish produce and international favourites. Start the day with our amazing breakfasts, or enjoy a coffee while watching the birds and farm life from the windows, stop in the deli for all your picnic essentials or enjoy an ice cream and a walk through the gardens. You can book farm tours and Scottish cheese tastings through our website.

Karelia House has grown from a small idea into an exciting destination – a destination for anyone who wants only the best. We have a fantastic selection of fabrics, yarns and so very much more! This crafters’ paradise is situated in a very beautiful rural location where the rivers Lyon and Tay meet, some 4 miles west of Aberfeldy. You cannot fail to enjoy your journey through the beautiful Perthshire scenery and the area offers many wonderful activities and retail experiences! If you want the best results, use the best ingredients – this applies to cooking, knitting, patchwork, painting or anything you do and that is the philosophy followed by everyone at Karelia House. Relax in front of a cosy wood-burning stove and enjoy a coffee and home-bake. Our fabulous showroom is bursting with the colour and texture of our yarn and fabric. You can also have a demonstration with our Brother sewing and embroidery machines – these state-of-the-art sewing machines show what amazing creations are possible.

We offer an eclectic and quirky selection of artwork in many media by emerging and established Scottish artists. In a light and bright gallery space, the front of which is entirely glass, the artwork is the focus and there is room to stand back and enjoy it. Alongside our festival events (see under Angela Thomson) we’ll still have a selection of local Perthshire artists participating in our “Glorious Perthshire” exhibition from the 2nd of September until the 13th of October. Many of our gallery favourites will be part of this exhibition; John Robert Smith, Rochelle McConnachie, Marianne Dey and many more.

Visitors love the variety and quality of artwork that we exhibit, created by talented artists from all over Scotland. In 2023 we celebrate 40 years of trading and have an exciting line up of mixed and solo exhibitions. Explore our display of beautiful art in a relaxed and friendly setting.
