JONATHAN MITCHELL has been a full-time artist since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art 1990. Over this period Jonathan has built an established reputation for his vivid and evocative depictions of rural and urban Scotland. Jonathan’s work features in private and corporate collections throughout the UK and internationally.
“Observation and drawing have always been central to my journey as a painter. Whilst I love many different kinds of art, for me the simple recording of a place I have experienced – or more accurately communicating what I experience through the medium of paint – has been the central focus of my creative life”.
During this years POS visitors will have a chance to look around Jonathan’s busy workshop, situated in bustling Glamis Gallery Studios. Also, Jonathan will be hosting an Open Studios painting demonstration, giving aspiring artists and art-lovers a chance to glean an insight into the artist’s working processes.
