Diana is a contemporary jewellery artist and completed her Bachelor of Design Degree at Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee, Scotland in 1998. She has been making and developing her ideas since then. Diana – originally from Kent, England – creates under the name Diana King Jewellery Workshop, from her garden workshop in Perth, Scotland.
Simplicity is the key to Diana and her design approach with her work featuring beautiful fluid and simplistic clean lines, expressing her strong sense of ‘less is more’. An approach and design ethos that lends itself wonderfully to the design of her jewellery collections.
Sources of inspiration often come from connection to family, the natural world, the freedom of movement, the movement and flight of birds and from the visual textures of the sea and its bounty of life. She has collections made mainly in sterling silver and cast resin. Diana enjoys incorporating a variety of materials to realise her insightful designs, including epoxy resin casting embedded with mica powders, small found forest floor treasure from lichen to small twigs and leaves.
The current working design is a new collection crafted from recycled brass, originally her daughter’s broken cymbal, copper and silver. With a deep respect for the environment, she transforms discarded metals into elegant, wearable art that blends raw texture with refined form. Each piece reflects her passion for conscious creativity, inspired by nature. Diana’s work celebrates imperfections and the beauty of repurposed materials, encouraging mindful consumption and lasting value.
Diana is a member of her local Open Studios and Perthshire Artisans, a curated platform to promote talent and creative businesses throughout Perthshire, Scotland. Diana has recently started to run small one to one workshops, sharing her knowledge of jewellery making and passion to make and create, giving other people the inspiration to make a lasting one-off piece of jewellery or perhaps inspire them to take the first steps in forging their own craft and design career. This runs in tandem with keeping several shops and galleries well stocked with her work, whilst also selling her products at local markets and events which allows her to meet and chat to her customers on a personal level.
