Bog Born Crafts is a ceramics studio run by Emma, an archaeologist turned potter! She makes quirky, colourful, illustrative wheel-thrown earthenware ceramics inspired by local nature, history and folklore. Using coloured clays (known as slips) and a mark-making technique called sgraffitto, Emma creates functional and beautiful items ranging from mugs, soap dishes and teapots to bowls, candle-holders, vases and many more. With her archaeologist background, Emma has taken a keen interest in ancient pottery and incorporates designs thousands of years old into the modern-day to create work with heritage and ties to the land. She’s been happily potting away for several years now, inspired by her parents who do ceramics and fused glass (check them out at Listening Owl Ceramics and Listening Owl Glass!) and has been attending local and national markets and ceramics fairs with her work. She looks forward to welcoming you to her wee garden-studio space where you can browse her creations and see her techniques with clay!
